For
over 100 years physical strengths are assigned to amber. It charges itself electronically
and emits a fine current, which strengthens our immune system. The amber acid,
which is emitted during wearing amber, has an advantageous influence on our
body. Please ask for ointment, oil and granules made of amber. In medical treatment
no other stone surpasses amber. It helps children during teething, it heals
rheumatic pain, neck aches, asthma, migraine, allergy on flower pollens and
animals, sciatica, eczema, gout, hay fever, substance changing, as well as in
gonarthritis, coxitis, sacroiliitis and many other. Amber necklaces for children
are also very popular. While worn by children, they help the teeth to grow better
and during teething by making it less painful.
The collection
hemis
will introduce you into a fascinating world of ambers, in which testimonies
from prehistorical times are visible: pine branches, moss, leaves and other
pieces of plants, termite swarms, mosquitoes, flies, grass hoppers and spiders,
are visible without the use of a microscope. Sometimes ambers include air and
water bubbles. Amber may weight up to 4 kgs, which is rather rare. However,
Hemis’ coronation is the collection of the biggest
amber in Germany, weighing 12,41 kgs! It’s a Jumbo among giants.
This amber is worth to be seen.
History
40
million years ago amber came into being, the fossil resin out of pine-like trees,
which provides us with the knowledge of the prehistoric world, because there
is earth, insects, plants and parts of them in amber. It was found in Samland
and eastern Prussia in the Stone Age. It was very often rinsed out on the shore.
Nowadays it is to be found up to 50 meters deep into the Earth – so called
blue earth. On one square meter ¾ kgs of non-polished amber are found,
and only 25% of it will be used in jewellery production. Before 10.000 years
an amber amulet was manufactured. German order has had monopoly of amber and
silver in eastern Prussia for over 300 years. The biggest and the most beautiful
amber works of art is an amber room, which was once given to a Russian tsar,
Peter the Great, by the king of Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm I, known as the king
of knights.
Colors
Ambers
are available in 400 different colors: from white to yellow, beige, brown, red,
grey, up to black. Most frequently occurring colors are cognac, also called
as the amber color. 90 % of all the found ambers, has this kind of shade. To
this comes the milky yellow amber up to white. It belongs to the most valuable
kind, because it constitutes max. 10% of it. Green and blue amber are very rare.
Moss, light, air, as well as the number of leaves on a cubical centimeter give
amber its color. Transparent stones are rarer than so called “sun rifle”.
The extremely rare and precious are several colors’ ambers, the evidence
of repeated resin flow.
Authenticity
Amber
is light, has a specific weigh 1,08 g/ cm 3. This is why it floats
in salty water. By tapping amber on a healthy tooth it sounds softly,
unlike tough sound of other stones. Amber is inflammable. It
may be electronically loaded and pulls small parts of dust,
materials and paper. If we rub amber, after some time it emits a characteristic
smell of resin. According to the law of 3rd 05 1934 there exist natural and
embossed ambers. Embossed ambers are manufactured out of small,
natural ambers, which are heated, dissolved and solidified without the help
of any other means. Some of the embossed ambers are also colored. Copals
are a strengthened resin, 1 million years younger. All the other stones with
the color of amber are most often plastic, not amber.
Hemis deals only with natural amber.
